As of the reporting date 31 January 2023, new tables in group A – D (activities of monetary financial institutions) and group G (credit institutions' interest rates) are published. A list of the new statistical tables is presented in Table 1. An overview of significant changes is given below:
- As regards the concept of residency, after the entry to the eurozone residents in Tables A – D and G have remained to be institutional units from the RC, whereas units from the euro area and the rest of the world are non-residents, with the result that claims on and liabilities to these units are reported in the balance sheet items of foreign assets and foreign liabilities. An exception is Table A1, which shows the RC's contribution to euro area monetary aggregates and therefore includes euro area residents (other than the central government sector) into residents.
- The Croatian National Bank balance sheet (Table C1), in addition to statistical positions, now includes some positions from the CNB’s accounting balance sheet (e.g., positions related to claims on and liabilities to the European Central Bank), defined in accordance with the accounting Guidelines.
- Tables D1 and B1 have seen significant conceptual changes. The balance sheet of other monetary financial institutions, Table D1, is based on the concept of the aggregated balance sheet of all sectors (claims and liabilities between other monetary financial institutions are not netted out, in contrast with these positions in Table D1 published until December 2022). The consolidated balance sheet of monetary financial institutions, Table B1, although showing netted out positions from the Croatian National Bank balance sheet and the Aggregated balance sheet of other monetary financial institutions, is no longer a basis for the compilation of monetary aggregates.
- The total number of tables in groups A – D and G decreased with the introduction of the euro due both to the elimination of analytical tables that break down the claims and liabilities of monetary institutions by positions with and without a currency clause and to the merging of some tables. Tables G, which refer to foreign exchange positions, have also been eliminated, given that new interest rate statistics refer only to the domestic currency (euro). Table 2 lists the tables that are eliminated or merged as at 1 January 2023.
- In addition, new tables D also report historical data (in the initial publication phase as of January 2020), according to which the euro is treated as the “domestic currency”, i.e., the corresponding kuna and euro positions (including kuna positions with a euro currency clause) are consolidated. Therefore, values in the new tables are reported in the euro, whereas in the tables containing a breakdown by “the domestic currency” and "the foreign currency", the domestic currency in the period until 31 December 2022 includes the kuna, the euro and the kuna with a euro currency clause, and as of 31 January 2023 only the euro. Historical data released in new tables G, as of December 2011, are calculated temporarily on the basis of different methodologies, depending on the type of weight, instrument and counterparty. For the positions that do not contain a note historical data are calculated by merging kuna positions with and without a currency clause and foreign exchange positions (i.e. by merging old tables A, B and C), while the calculation of historical data for other positions is explained in each table. Additionally, Table C1 and Table B1 at the moment do not comprise any historical series, primarily because of the transition to another source of data for the compilation of the Croatian National Bank balance sheet as of 1 January 2023. Also, in the first phase of publication of new tables, transactions in Table D1 and Table D5 will not be calculated.
