CNB issues the commemorative 2-euro circulation coin

The Croatian National Bank will on 16 July 2026 release into circulation the commemorative 2-euro coin "100 Years of the Croatian Radio and Television". The exchange of the commemorative coin for the public will begin on 20 July 2026.

The national side of the coin features radio waves in five lines, symbolising the beginning of broadcasting of "Radio Zagreb", on the medium-wave frequency of 350 meters on 15 May 1926 at 8.30 p.m. This moment also symbolises the beginning of the Croatian Radio and Television, the legal successor to "Radio Zagreb", which is today the central national media organisation with significant cultural and social relevance for the Republic of Croatia. The coin will be issued in the amount of 200,000 pieces, of which 190,000 pieces will be available to citizens for exchange. The national side of the coin is designed by the sculptor Karlo Grass and the coin is minted by the Croatian Mint.

In addition to its numismatic significance, the commemorative euro coin also has the status of a circulation coin so that, as a rule, no fee is charged for its exchange. Thus, the commemorative 2-euro coin will also be available for purchase at the same value of 2 euros.

The coin will be available for purchase by registering to the CNB's commemorative coins pre-ordering system from 18 May until 18 June 2026, or until the foreseen amount is exchanged. Citizens will be able to express their interest in exchanging up to a maximum of 5 (five) pieces of the new commemorative coin or until the foreseen amount of new commemorative coins is exchanged.

From 20 July 2026, citizens will be able to exchange their coins on the basis of a confirmed pre-order in person:

  • at the CNB's cash desk (Jurišićeva 17, Zagreb, from Monday until Friday, from 8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.), free of charge;
  • by postal services, with delivery to the address in the Republic of Croatia, subject to a compensation fee for the postal services, paid based on an invoice to the Croatian National Bank; and
  • at the offices of the Financial Agency, subject to a fee to be paid to the Financial Agency according to its price list.
