The Croatian National Bank successfully hosted an Open Doors Day on 25 April, welcoming more than 700 visitors to its main building on Trg hrvatskih velikana in Zagreb. On this occasion, the visitors were able to tour the impressive Round Hall – the main stock exchange hall of the former Zagreb Stock and Commodity Exchange, designed by Viktor Kovačić, the father of modern architecture in Croatia. The visitors were able to participate in educational workshops led by CNB experts and learn about saving and wise money management, get to know euro banknotes and learn how to identify counterfeits, find out about the money’s “journey” from design to recycling and learn how the monetary policy of the European Central Bank impacts Croatia.

They also had the opportunity to participate in a quiz moderated by Morana Zibar and organised by Moneterra with the aim of enhancing financial literacy in an interactive and fun way.

Throughout the day, the youngest visitors enjoyed children’s workshops where they discovered all the secrets of the euro by examining euro banknotes and coins, while other visitors had a chance to test and advance their financial knowledge in a digital quiz.

The event also included a meeting of CNB Governor Boris Vujčić and Deputy Governor Sandra Švaljek with university students. The Governor held a lecture on the digital euro, while the Deputy Governor spoke about the international role of the euro. The lectures were followed by an interesting discussion where participants showed great interest both in these topics and the operation and activities of the CNB and the Eurosystem.
